of universities and science groups are asking leaders of the Senate
Appropriations Committee to stop the USDA from moving the Economic Research
Service and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture outside of

letter, the groups say the relocation would jeopardize “the efficacy of state,
local, private, and non-governmental sector funding for agricultural research
and extension.” They are asking the senate appropriators to “reject funding
cuts and reject the expenditure of funds to relocate the ERS and NIFA” to
Kansas City.
The
USDA says the move would save taxpayers $300 million dollars.
