USDA is extending its planted acreage data collection to better capture this year’s late season. “We’ll run data collection as long as we can into June, we’re going to try to stretch it as many days as we possibly can knowing that there’s still a lot of decisions still being made out there.” Lance Honig with the National Ag Statistics Service says they’ll be gathering information until this Wednesday for the June 28th release. “We need to know what they’re thinking as of today because that’s going to be the best information available to provide the most accurate picture of what these acreages are going to look like this season.” USDA typically finishes gathering planting information from 100,000 farmers by June 15th.
