Delayed planting and continuous rainfall across the state have Illinois crop conditions ranking well below average. The USDA reports only 51% of corn and 33% of winter wheat are rated good to excellent. Corn and soybean planting is still underway. As of Sunday, 88% of corn was planted and 74% had emerged. Soybean planting reached 70%, compared to the five-year-average of 95%, with 50% of the crop emerged. Winter wheat harvest began last week. Six percent of the crop was harvested as of Sunday compared to the average of 21%.
