A bill that would allow for early haying and grazing of cover crops on prevent plant ground has been introduced in the U.S. House. Minnesota Democrat Angie Craig and South Dakota Republican Dusty Johnson are co-sponsors of the Feed Emergency Enhancement During Disasters–or FEEDD Act, which would create an emergency waiver authority for Ag Secretary Perdue to move the timeline for harvesting a prevent plant cover from November first to September first. Ashley Kohls with the Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association tells Brownfield producers are concerned they won’t have enough forage this year.
