South Dakota farmer Keith Alverson guesses one to two percent of the
state’s corn and soybean planting is complete.
“We’ve got about a third of both corn and soybeans in our farm,” said Alverson,
“but we’re one of under five people that I know of in the area that have had a
chance to even get in the field and get going.”
Alverson, who farms in the southeastern part of the state, says the sunshine
and wind that typically dry South Dakota fields have been absent.
