Soybeans were lower on fund and technical selling, with
another new low for the July contract. This week’s trade talks with China were
reportedly positive, but no agreement was reached, with more discussions scheduled
for next week. China did buy a routine amount of U.S. soybeans last week, but
the overall pace remains slow more than halfway through the 2018/19 marketing
year because of China’s tariffs and the competition from South America. The
impact of African Swine Fever on Chinese demand is a big question mark.
