Lake Michigan College is in the process of constructing the first teaching winery in the Midwest.
Director of wine and viticulture Michael Moyer tells Brownfield the $7 million Welch Center will expand on the community college’s winemaking program in Benton Harbor.
“We’ll be able to make wines but also show students best practices in what wineries should operate like.”
He says there’s only a handful
of facilities in the country that offer similar training.
