The first day of the Hard Red Winter Wheat Tour through northern Kansas on Tuesday produced a yield estimate of nearly 47 bushels per acre, up about nine bushels from last year.
The Nebraska and Colorado estimates also came in around 47 bushels per acre.
One wheat tour veteran said he noticed a lot fewer wheat acres this year in the northern tier of counties in Kansas.
