Planting activity is at a virtual standstill across much of the Midwest.
Joel DeJong, an Extension crop specialist in northwest Iowa, says there’s been very little activity in the counties that he serves.
“It’s been a really slow start. A lot of the area, particularly if you take Highway 3 or even Highway 20 and go north, there’s been very little activity. There’s been some manure hauled and some fertilizer applied, but not very much tillage and very little corn planted at this stage of the game,” DeJong says.
