Dairy groups are supporting the U.S. Trade Representative’s
Special 301 report which denounces Europe’s trade policies that block common
name food products.
Tom Vilsack with U.S. Dairy Export Council says Europe’s
geographical indications policies put U.S. dairy products at a disadvantage and
wants the USTR to prioritize preventing future restrictions in other trade
agreements.
The National
Milk Producers Federation also wants trade officials to consider the lopsided
dairy trade imbalance between the U.S.
