Sugarbeet planting progress is
less than half of the five-year average according to this week’s crop report.

“We have not seen a single acre of sugarbeets planted yet in the Red River Valley states of Minnesota and North Dakota—the five-year averages in those two states—33 and 25 percent respectively. We do however see modest progress in Michigan at 12 percent planted.”  

USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey
says as of Sunday, only 14 percent of the nation’s crop was planted compared to
the five-year average of 34 percent. 
Only 12 percent of sugarbeets were planted last year at this time.
