A bill has been introduced in the Michigan Senate that would lift
a ban on deer baiting which the Michigan Cattlemen’s Association says increases
the risk of bovine tuberculosis outbreaks.
Last year the Michigan Natural Resources Commission approved
a ban that limits deer feeding in the Lower Peninsula to reduce the spread of
chronic wasting disease.
Senator Curt VanderWall of Ludingto has introduced a bill that would lift the ban during the hunting season and says it helps to manage the deer herd.
