The 2017 Census of Agriculture shows the total number of farms in Nebraska decreased by seven percent from 2012 to 2017.
Nick Streff with the Ag Statistics Service in Nebraska says the mid-sized farm categories saw some big declines.
“Some of those middle categories like the 50 to 179 acre farms, they were down about 700. And the 180 to 500 acre farms were down about a thousand from five years ago,” Streff says.
