The European Union has agreed to formal trade
talks with the U.S., but agriculture remains a sticking point.
U.S. trade officials have made it clear they want agriculture included in trade talks, but EU officials say they will focus only on industrial goods.
This announcement comes after President Trump threatened to put tariffs on $11 billion dollars’ worth of European products in retaliation for what he says are improper EU subsides to its airplane manufacturer Airbus.
