Teen 4-H members have gathered
in Washington D.C. this week to talk about ag issues with U.S. lawmakers.
Jill Parrent, a 4-H alumnus from Illinois and student at Iowa State University, was the leader of the group who told their stories to the House Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture and Research during National 4-H Conference on Tuesday.
“It was also the stories of determination. Whether that be coming from a harder background where 4-H was your only outlet or not even having an agricultural background but still realizing that agriculture plays a part in your life every single day.”
Cassidy Burnsice is a 4-H delegate from Vallonia, Indiana who chose to address how the milk market is threatening her family’s primary source of income.
