Soybeans were modestly higher on short covering and technical buying. The USDA’s supply and demand numbers Tuesday were bearish, but contracts are oversold. The trade is back to waiting for some concrete news out of trade talks with China and watching U.S. planting weather. There hasn’t been a lot of new, public news about the trade talks between the world’s two largest economies or any announced resumption of face to face discussions. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin Wednesday told CNBC recent talks were productive.
