Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says USDA continues to work with federal
transportation officials to alleviate concerns about Electronic Logging Device
regulations.
During a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing earlier this week, Perdue expressed optimism issues with the hauling of livestock and other farm products are being addressed.
“The (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and Department of Transportation) have some proposed rules coming out that will better define agricultural products and agricultural exemptions, and hopefully by this summer we can see some resolution on some of those Hours of Service issues over the Electronic Logging Devices.”
Livestock haulers are currently exempt from ELD requirements.
