Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he’ll pass
legislation to solve hemp regulatory issues if needed.
McConnell told attendees at a hemp forum in his home state of
Kentucky Monday he’d support measures to address issues like interstate
movement to clear up uncertainty before the USDA finalizes regulations.
New rules for hemp production are expected this fall from USDA
but will not go into effect until the 2020 planting season.
McConnell authored language in the 2018 Farm bill which removed
industrial hemp from the controlled substance list and made it a legal ag
commodity.
