Some
Illinois Soybean Association members recently met with ag experts in India
about a future market for US soybeans there.
Stan Born is a director for the Illinois and American Soybean Associations and farms in Lovington, Illinois.
“Demand for meat protein in their diet is going to continue to grow. They have a hug population that is growing rapidly and the need for our products to help satisfy their food needs will be there.”
He tells Brownfield the barriers stopping trade right now are India’s 40-to-50% tariffs on US soybeans and their law against genetically modified (GM) beans.
