The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved the controversial Grain Belt Express transmission line that would cross the northern part of the state. The $2.3 billion high-voltage power line that would deliver wind energy to eastern states awaits approval in Kansas and Illinois. Some landowners oppose the plan and argue that their property could be taken away. The Missouri Farm Bureau is among the opponents. On the other hand, the Missouri Public Utility Alliance is pleased because the line would mean lower-priced electricity for several municipal utilities in Missouri.
