Trade uncertainties with China have producers on the fence about how many soybean acres to plant this spring.
USDA economist Warren Preston says USDA’s crop reports released Friday did not have much information to help producers with that decision.
“Producers are still facing the uncertainty and whether we are able to strike a deal with China are not, I think is going to tell us a lot about whether producers will be looking to put in soybeans or corn.”
The USDA reports predict
soybeans planted will drop by nearly four-million
acres and corn planted will increase by nearly three-million,
but Preston says a deal with China could turn that around very quickly.
