Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts is standing firm in his opposition to a sales or income tax increase in order to provide property tax relief.
Many ag groups say meaningful property tax relief is only possible with an increase in other taxes. But in an exclusive interview with Brownfield, Governor Pete Ricketts says it doesn’t make any sense to raise taxes to lower taxes.
“That is just not common sense—and it’s not right to raise taxes on one group of people to pay for somebody’s else’s tax relief,” Ricketts says.
