Soybeans were modestly higher on fund and technical buying, but closed well below the session’s highs. The support is tied to progress in trade talks with China and Beijing committing to buying 10 million tons of U.S. beans. Still, contracts were pulled down from the day’s highs by some uncertainties about the deal, including the timing of the purchase or purchases and delivery dates. Additionally, actual purchases in past weeks have fallen far below rumored amounts.
