Direct cash cattle trade is quiet. Bids and asking prices have yet to be established. It’s likely we’ll see significant trade volume delayed until the latter half of the week. Last week we saw slow-to-develop trade at $202 dressed in the North, $2 higher than the previous week’s weighted average. Trade in the South never seemed to materialized ahead of Friday afternoon’s mandatory reporting deadline.
Boxed beef opened steady to higher on strong demand for light
offerings. Choice is $.03 higher at
$219.42 and Select jumped $2.20 to $214.55.
At the open at the Oklahoma National Stockyards, receipts are down on the week and up on the year.
