bipartisan bill introduced in the U.S. House
would allow schools to serve whole milk in their nutrition programs.
It’s
a move supported by the National Milk Producers Federation and the
International Dairy Foods Association. IDFA President Michael Dykes says it would let schools have the flexibility to offer the same
types of milk that children and teens enjoy at home, and provide expanded milk options to help ensure students
get the nutrients that milk uniquely provides, including calcium, vitamin D and
potassium.
