Farmers will likely be facing low quality soybeans in the 2019 growing season.
Bryan Smith, a district sales manager with Ohio-based Seed Consultants says farmers should be prepared for lower-than-average germination rates for soybeans this year.
“Right now a lot of farmers are concerned with soybean germination,” he says. “We’re telling farmers to take early delivery on soybeans when they become available and get them treated and get them on the farm.”
He tells Brownfield it’s an
industry-wide issue caused by wet conditions and delayed harvest.
