A state FSA director is advising farmers to ONLY contact their FSA office for farm loan purposes.
Joe Martin in Minnesota says the limited opening is primarily focused on loan activity involving unfinished payments that need to be processed to ensure 1099 tax statements are generated in a timely manner.
“(We’re) not going to be working on the Market Facilitation Program or taking any new applications, any new loans, so really no need to contact the office or stop in because we’re not going to be able to provide service in any of those programs outside of if you’re an existing farm loan customer.”
He tells Brownfield FSA staff will be endorsing two-party checks while offices are reopened today, tomorrow and Tuesday.
