The president of the National Corn Growers Association, Lynn Chrisp, says the new Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule released by the EPA is a major improvement over the previous WOTUS rule—which he describes as “a trainwreck”.
Chrisp says the release of the new rule is a relief to corn producers across the country.
“Because we can approach our stewardship applications on the farms, working with buffer strips and other things that we need to do from an environmental standpoint, without the necessity of the red tape that was proposed under the previous rule,” Chrisp says.
