China has placed its largest order for US pork since the trade war began.
Livestock economist Steve Meyer with Iowa-based Kerns and Associates says he expected it. “We started expecting this when African Swine Fever started breaking,” he says. “I don’t think they’re going to have much choice than to come to the United States for some product.”
He tells Brownfield the industry is anticipating the impact of the African Swine Fever outbreak in China to get expand as we head into 2019.
