Australian-based a2 Milk Company is being challenged by the National Milk Producers Federation for claims that their products are easier on human digestion than conventional milk.
The National Advertising Division has referred advertising claims to the Federal Trade Commission for further review after a2 Milk refused to participate in a review of its claims.
“When you are casting aspersions on other producers and on other products for reasons that don’t have scientific grounding, that in some ways undermine the credibility of milk as a beverage as a whole—that’s a real issue.”
NMPF’s Alan Bjerga tells Brownfield a2 also falsely claims that conventional milk is likely to cause painful bloating, cramps, and other uncomfortable symptoms.
