At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live cattle futures closed higher on support from wholesale values and carryover support from the lean hog contracts. Feeder cattle contracts were firm, getting a little help from the day’s lower move in corn. December live cattle closed $1.20 higher at $118.35 and February live cattle closed $.85 higher at $122.77. November feeder cattle closed $.05 higher at $155.92 and January feeder cattle closed $.50 higher at $151.35.
Direct cash cattle trade has been fairly quiet.
