U.S. producers might have planted more corn and soybeans than what the USDA was projecting in March, despite a late start in some key U.S. growing areas. According to wire reports, on average, analysts expect this year’s corn planted area to be 88.562 million acres and soybeans are projected at 89.691 million, both up slightly from the USDA’s prospective planting report, but down from the 2017 totals. In March, the USDA pegged corn at 88.026 million acres and soybeans at 88.982 million, while corn in 2017 totaled 90.167 million acres with beans at 90.142 million.
