The European Commission has approved Bayer’s acquisition of Monsanto. The German company has agreed divest more than $7 billion in Bayer businesses to satisfy competition concerns.
EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager says this ensures that farmers will still have a choice of different seeds and pesticides at affordable prices.
Bayer has already agreed to sell some of its crop science businesses and the license for its digital farming platform to BASF.
