US Dairy Export Council CEO Tom Vilsack is heartened about dairy trade prospects with China. Vilsack just returned from a relationship-building trip to China to acknowledge that country reducing its tariff on cheese and other dairy ingredients from twelve to eight percent.
“Obviously we want them to continue to lower that tariff so that we are absolutely competitive with our friends in New Zealand and Australia,” said Vilsack, during an interview with Brownfield Ag News, “so we’re going to continue to work on that.”
Vilsack served as USDA Secretary during the Obama administration.
