Direct cash cattle markets are quiet ahead of this week’s widespread direct business. Asking prices are $126+ on the live basis and $200+ dressed, with bids of $121 to $123 live and $192 to $193 dressed. It looks like most of the trade may wait until after the cattle on feed numbers out at 3 Eastern/2 Central. On average, analysts expect the total number of cattle on feed to be up on the year, with lower placements and marketings.
