The USDA says 2017 corn production totaled 14.604 billion bushels, up from December’s projection.
Last year’s average yield was a new all-time high at 176.6 bushels per acre, cancelling out a slight decrease in the USDA’s harvested area figure, down to 82.703 million acres. Illinois, Minnesota, and Ohio reportedly notched new record high yields, along with Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
