The USDA reports winter wheat producers planted the second lowest number of acres on record.
The total of 32.608 million was down less than 1% from last year, 88,000 acres, but producers continue to respond to slow demand, large world supplies, and weather issues in some key growing areas. In 2017, U.S. winter wheat acreage was 32.696 million acres.
