At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures ended the day modestly higher on short covering and technical buying. Feeder cattle found additional support in today’s lower move in corn – specifically, March corn found a new contract low. Cattle futures managed to hold on to their gains despite pressure from the wholesale market. February live cattle closed $.30 higher at $117.37 and April live cattle closed $.57 higher at $119.45. January feeder cattle closed $.52 higher at $144.35 and March feeder cattle closed $1.27 higher at $142.65.
