Global energy and commodity group Mercuria Investments has purchased a northern Indiana ethanol plant from Connecticut-based Noble Americas Corporation.
Noble Americas South Bend Ethanol will now be known as South Bend Ethanol.
The facility currently produces about 65 million gallons of ethanol each year, but Mercuria says it will spend up to $30 million on renovations and improvements to bring that number to 100 gallons.
The plant was shut down from 2012 to 2014, but was reopened in 2015.
