At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures turned back negative today, pressured by the lower cash trade and lack of buyer support. February live cattle closed $.80 lower at $116.87 and April live cattle closed $.85 lower at $118.67. January feeder cattle closed $1.10 lower at $144.37 and March feeder cattle closed $.52 lower at $142.22.
Most of cattle country has been quiet after this week’s early light to moderate trade activity. A little bit of cleanup direct cash cattle business has been reported in Kansas.
