US pork exports hit their highest-ever monthly value in November.
US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) CEO Dan Halstrom says there were a couple of key markets that helped contribute to the 10 percent year-over-year growth for January through November. “Korea continues to be very strong, we’re up 38 percent year-to-date, Mexico has been a pillar throughout the whole year, and a critically important market to the ham complex,” he says. “Another big news for the ham complex, we had a very strong month for hams going to Australia.”
The pork variety market topped the $1 billion mark for the first time ever and he says its 17 percent increase in value from a year ago has been a critical component to the growth.
