Crop farmers struggling to control weeds are thinking outside the box.
Minnesota farmer and executive director of the Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service (MOSES) John Mesko says weed management is a top consideration when exploring a transition to organic.
“It’s a holistic approach. It’s not just the elimination of a product, it’s the improvement of soils, crop rotation. It (also) has to do with the timing of planting and timing of tillage, cultivation and so forth.
