A University of Nebraska ag climatologist says the potential exists for a dry summer in the western Corn Belt.
Al Dutcher says there are early indications of a possible El Nino weather pattern developing in the second half of 2018, which could bring warmer and drier conditions to the western Corn Belt.
“There are conditions that have developed that could be a precursor to drought development, but do not necessarily mean that it will develop,” Dutcher says.
