At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures closed sharply lower as live futures were driven down by technical pressure. In addition, the fact that the cash trade couldn’t meet its lofty expectations of $1 to $2 higher this week also pushed contracts lower. February live cattle closed $3.00 lower at $119.25 and April live cattle closed $2.97 lower at $120.85. January feeder cattle closed $2.40 lower at $146.62 and March feeder cattle closed $3.57 lower at $141.97.
