A major farm group is urging lawmakers to address financial challenges in agriculture during the 2018 Minnesota Legislative Session.
Thom Petersen is director of government relations for the Minnesota Farmers Union.
“The farm economy is really struggling. I think we’re in the third year of low prices for a lot of commodities. So making sure that farmers have resources that the state can help them with through these tough times, and that includes funding for the Rural Finance Authority.”
He says much of the $35 million that went into the RFA program last session has been used.
