A Minnesota farm group leader says the state’s new U.S. Senator, Tina Smith, understands the challenges facing rural America.
Minnesota Farmers Union president Gary Wertish tells Brownfield that Smith, as Lt. Governor, made it a point to travel outside the metro.
“We’re very pleased with the choice. We think she’ll do a good job. She’s been advocating for small businesses (and) farmers. She’s been out on a farm with us a few times and done well.
