
An animal rights group is calling on Denver’s National Western Stock Show to stop its popular mutton-busting competition.
The group, called Direct Action Everywhere, calls it cruel and barbaric and says sheep are often injured during the event. It says nearly 90-thousand people have signed an online petition calling for an end to the popular competition.
Mutton-busting features kids between five and seven years old trying to hang on as long as they can while riding on the back of a running sheep.
