At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, strong gains moved back into the cattle futures on short covering and support from the wholesale values in light trade volume. Feeder cattle futures found additional price support from the day’s lower move in corn. December live cattle closed $2.52 higher at $124.55 and February live cattle closed $1.25 higher at $122.25. January feeder cattle closed $.42 higher at $145.60 at March feeder cattle closed $.50 higher at $142.22.
Direct cash cattle trade has been at a standstill with very little change from the early morning bids.
