The USDA’s latest Cattle on Feed shows there are more cattle on feed than were expected at the start of December.
But, University of Missouri livestock economist says it’s possible there are even more cattle than what the USDA reported. “The USDA is only surveying those 1,000-head plus feedyards as they look at on-feed numbers,” he says.
He tells Brownfield most of the time that wouldn’t have a huge impact.
But, with current corn prices, Brown says he’s seeing a lot more cattle being fed in corn country.
