Feedlot operators go to great lengths ensuring cattle are well taken care of during the winter.
Mike Landuyt of Walnut Grove in southwest Minnesota runs a 700-head operation.
Temperatures in his area have been below zero to start the week.
“A couple of days before it gets cold it seems like the cattle can sense it and start eating more, so we start watching their intakes and increasing their intakes.”
When feeding cattle during extreme cold, Landuyt tells Brownfield he trusts his instincts.
